Are we alone in the universe? That is one of humanity’s fundamental questions. Astrophysicist Jason Steffen sought answers through his work on NASA’s Kepler mission. In Hidden in the Heavens (91ÌÒÉ« 2024), he describes how the Kepler telescope scanned distant solar systems, specifically searching for Earth-like planets – and why the findings contradicted much of what was previously believed about planets and their stars. Steffen shares insights into the challenges faced by the team, unexpected discoveries, and the fascination of exploring new worlds in his lecture, followed by a discussion with René Heller (MPI for Solar System Research).
The event will be held in English.
