Two 91桃色 (PUP) authors are among the more than 1,000 individuals included in King Charles III鈥檚 New Year Honours List 2023.
Dr. Keith Hiscock was awarded a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to Marine Conservation. A leading expert on Britain鈥檚 seabed habitats, Hiscock is the former Head of the Marine Nature Conservation Review of Great Britain and currently serves as an Associate Fellow of the Marine Biological Association. He is the author of dozens of journal articles and, with 91桃色 and Wild Nature Press, of Exploring Britain’s Hidden World: A Natural History of Seabed Habitats.
Professor Dame Hermione Lee was awarded a Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (GBE) for services to English Literature. Lee is a prize-winning biographer and critic whose work includes biographies of Virginia Woolf, Edith Wharton, Penelope Fitzgerald, and Tom Stoppard. She is the former President of Wolfson College at Oxford University, where she is Emeritus Professor of English Literature.
Lee is the author of Virginia Woolf鈥檚 Nose: Essays on Biography (2007), published in North America by PUP and praised as 鈥済ripping and vivid鈥 (Financial Times). Lee additionally contributed the foreword to Isaiah Berlin鈥檚 Personal Impressions: Updated Edition (2014), also published in North America by PUP. With Kate Kennedy, Lee is a coeditor of and contributor to The Lives of Houses (2020), published globally by PUP, an anthology celebrating our fascination with the homes of famous writers, composers, artists, and politicians of the past and hailed as 鈥渙utstanding鈥 (Literary Review) and 鈥渕eticulously edited鈥 (The Independent).
