PUP acquires Now Comes Good Sailing

Executive Editor Anne Savarese has acquired World rights to Now Comes Good Sailing: On Henry David Thoreau and the Meaning of Life, an anthology of reflections on the timely and timeless, relevant, and resonant nature of Henry David Thoreau鈥檚 life and work. The book鈥檚 title captures the last full sentence Thoreau reportedly spoke before his death in 1862.

Edited by Andrew Blauner鈥攆ounder of and editor of seven previous anthologies, including Coach: 25 Writers Reflect on People Who鈥檝e Made a Difference and The Peanuts Papers: Writers and Cartoonists on Charlie Brown, Snoopy & the Gang, and the Meaning of Life鈥攖he collection will include original essays by Jennifer Finney Boylan, Douglas Brinkley, Kristen Case, Ron Charles, George Howe Colt, Gerald Early, Paul Elie, Will Eno, Adam Gopnik, Lauren Groff, Pico Iyer, Alan Lightman, James Marcus, 窜辞毛&苍产蝉辫;笔辞濒濒补办, Jordan Salama, Tatiana Schlossberg, A.O. Scott, Mona Simpson, Robert Sullivan, Amor Towles, Sherry Turkle, Chris Ware, and Rafia Zakaria. The anthology will also include previously published pieces by Bill McKibben, John McPhee, Joyce Carol Oates, and Terry Tempest Williams. As a whole, the collection will offer readers fresh perspectives on the many facets of Thoreau鈥檚 life and writing, including the literary, political, philosophical, and ecological.

Now Comes Good Sailing is slated for publication in 2021.
