Karen G. Lloyd is the Wrigley Professor of Earth Sciences, and Marine and Environmental Biology, at the University of Southern California. She is the author of , her firsthand account of her adventures while hunting for life beneath Earth鈥檚 surface and how new discoveries are challenging our most basic assumptions about the nature of life on Earth.
